Water covers 71% of the earth’s surface, sure.

But what you must really care about is the water you drink. And when you swim in anything but a pool … or fish or boat … what’s the quality of that water?

Lakes, rivers, beaches. Some of these waters are contaminated a little. Some are contaminated a lot.

Here at WaterGoodness.org, from our small-but-cozy global command center in Columbia, Maryland (not 2 miles from the Patuxent River), we’re seeking every authoritative datapoint on water quality we can lay hands on— and when we do, it goes on our map.

We have tons of what we call institutional data, from the EPA and the USGS among others.

But we need your help. Get a kit (cost is <$25) and test the water coming out of the tap at your home or business, whether it comes from the local utility or from a well.

And send those results in to us— we’ll show your datapoint instantly on our map, with a timestamp. Of course, we won’t reveal your last name— just first name last initial (such as Emma C.) or whatever you like.

Help us shine a bright light on America’s waters.
